For those of you who did not know me before I joined the community, I was a shipwreck. Think of anything messed up, obviously nothing illegal, and I dabbled in it at some point of time or the other. At this point of time, I was making a major decision, whether this community was worth my time.
I began in CFCI Singles two and a half years ago, an unconvinced Christian. I would personally call myself a nine-to-five Christian. I went for weekly mass, like I was told to. I would say the rosary with my family every evening. Confessions twice a year, in a good year, Easter and Christmas, otherwise, I would probably skip it. I didn't think it was a major priority since I did not kill anyone nor was I in a relationship with someone else's wife. I used the occasional swear word, at least 200 times a day, like normal people from the movies do. I had a Bible which kept the pages of my Shakespeare plays from flying every time I forgot the fan on and left the room.

I have been fascinated by St. Catherine ever since I learned that an infamous Portuguese General dedicated a Cathedral to her. If you are wondering what I am talking about, I am referring to the Se Cathedral at Old Goa, which was a remote Portuguese colony at the time. I have been a history buff for as long as I can remember, and it fascinated me that a man could give so much to a lady he never met.
Another reason I wanted to know more about this mysterious lady was because her feast day and my sister’s birthday happened to coincide. Further, the book of saints that I went through, left me asking more questions than answering the ones I already had.

It's been a couple of weeks since the National Singles conference ended and some of us might still be on a high from the event. But before everyone starts talking about the next one, I thought it's best that I share about my personal experience at this conference, one that really set my soul on fire!

Confession, do we really need it? Is this just another opportunity to relieve ourselves of the guilt we are feeling for the wrong we have done? Are we using the sacrament of confession the way it is intended?
For me, it is a lot more than just getting the guilt out; each confession I rush to teaches me something new, something I did not think possible. A few days ago was no exception.

I am not a very prayerful person. I have my fair share of conversations with God and of late, the other two parts of the divine trinity, but anyone would tell you that I don’t know many prayers. Since I pretend I can write, and I am casually referred to as a writer, I thought I would on the patron saint of writing. So here is a little about St. Francis de Sales and the influence he had on me.

It is said that time heals everything, so you can assume that the lack of time leads to the opposite. I joined the CFCI Singles Porvorim Chapter about a year ago and they always said that our call to family life comes before that to the community. This is amazing especially for someone like me who struggles to get a few minutes of free time a day.

We all have little things we are afraid of getting into. Some of us are so comfortable with them, we name them and call them our own, while others have to go on a quest to fix them and try to get better attributes to hang out with.

is easy, I did it. But not on my own strength…
It all started in my second year of college; I told many of my friends about an amazing series out at the time, the Game of Thrones. I definitely rated it among the best ever written and created, with everything, from zombies, to wolves, to swords, to arrows, to dragons. It had deep concepts of betrayal, love, loyalty, murder, with shallow traces of brutal, bloody, gory murders and unnecessary nudity, proving HBO would go the extra mile to get the attention of their indifferent fans. It even had very religious people, yes, they had different religions, and different Gods, but some followed them, true to the letter. Many of my friends were skeptical at this time, but being the kind of talker I am, I convinced everyone to watch the first episode and like the giant black hole GoT is, everyone sucked into it.

On the 6th of December 2015, CFCI- Goa organized an advent gathering at Sneh Banquet Hall, Porvorim, something they do every year. This year however was totally different from previous gatherings since they decided to merge the youth and the singles together for one giant gathering party. The aim of the joint gathering was to foster a sense of unity among the members as well as to let the youth know that they have a bigger brother or sister to whom they can look up to and learn from.
