Families are the primary unit which plays a crucial role in the society in general and the Church in particular.
Today significant changes on the social, political and economic front are posing several challenges to families and society at large. On the Christian level, there is a breakdown of Christian values. The teachings of the Catholic Church are being distorted. Thus, families are losing their true nature and purpose of its participation in the mission of the Church. Many people get married but very few are prepared to embrace the sacrament of Matrimony without losing its essence. Prayer life and sacramental life in the family have drastically declined.

A stepwise process of forgiving others by the love of Christ
Forgiving others in our lives is very important for us despite the inner wounds that are caused by them. We are all created in the image and likeness of God, and he has created us to love others. The most significant example of forgiving one’s brothers is in the Old Testament when Joseph forgives his brothers even after they sold him into slavery to the Egyptians. (Genesis 45:1-15). When we are wronged, we can either respond by seeking revenge or we can choose to forgive. If we choose revenge, our lives will be consumed by anger, self-pity and hatred. When vengeance is sought, it still leaves one unsatisfied and empty for one cannot recover a lost friendship or relationship or a lost loved one. However, forgiveness allows us to shift our focus from an individual and move on. Eventually, it bestows us with inner peace within our hearts. Forgiving others is rewarding to the person who does so, and even to the one who receives forgiveness. It can also set a chain of positive events for him/her to do the same to others.
Death Cleaning
A rather intriguing title comprising of 2 topics that most of us dislike: Dying and Cleaning. Yet, the only thing that none of us can change is the fact that we will die one day. So what then is the meaning of this term ‘death cleaning’?
Reflecting God’s Family
For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is name, that according to the riches of his glory... [that you may] know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
~ Ephesians 3:14, 15 &19
Marriage and Family were created by God (Genesis 1:27-28, Genesis 2:22-24), so that we His people could live as he does, in love and unity and reflect His presence in the world by the way we live as a family. Through this, we see that God has a clear vision and purpose for Christian families
Is Christmas special this year?
Christmas has always been my favourite time of the year. The lights, the carol singing, the gifts. Everything is fun, but it brings more meaning when it is done with family and that’s why Christmas to me is all about spreading love and joy.
How are you preparing for Christmas?
Advent is a season of joy and celebration. The preparation for Christmas is evident when we look around us. We see friends and family involved in cleaning homes, decorating their homes, Christmas trees, singing carols, Christmas colours in every malls etc. Apart from the external preparation, how can we prepare our hearts for Christmas?
What is my Punishment?
We all gossip, we all backbite. We make big mistakes and goof up big time. At times, we are mean, at other times selfish. At times, we lose it to the extent of doing irrevocable harm to those around us. We can cheat like the tax collector, fall like the immoral woman and at times even bite like the thief on the right. But its Christmas, the season of forgiveness and repentance.
So, what then? Do we spend the four weeks beating ourselves and pushing away all the Christmas sweets as we cry tears of repentance? If this is what you were planning to do, I thought of writing this just for you. Feeling bad about that time when you succumbed to letting your tongue run loose to lash out at that colleague?
Christmas, for Life’s every Season
Believe it or not, Christmas is almost here. You can gasp all you want and wonder where the last eleven months went; but, friend, time did pass and you are here now, in the season of advent. For some of you, 2019 may have been a year of mostly fond memories and hence, you are probably thrilled that the season of carols and calories is finally here. You are most likely eager to give and receive gifts to loved ones, excited to go for midnight mass and enthusiastic to post these happy memories on Instagram. Oh! tis the season. If you’re in this category of people, then consider yourself fortunate and give thanks to the Lord for blessing you thus far.
Stress Busters: When it’s hard to Pray
The Holy Eucharist, the five decades of the rosary and an hour before the blessed sacrament give us the strength to face the day. But while all of us aspire to be perfect in these spiritual disciplines, there are always times when it's hard to really kneel down and focus on the beads of the rosary or the daily readings.
Sounds familiar? To me it does. It was at times like this that I came up with the six stress busters that one can use when prayer is hard.
