The CFCI Youth (Curtorim) intake camp ‘Chosen‘ was held at SVD, Raia, from 31st May to 2nd June 2019 and was based on 1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
As the participants arrived, they assembled in the hall and began mingling with each other. They were introduced to a couple of new action songs, which were followed by a few ice-breaker activities, that enabled them to make new friends and build bonds. This was followed by Praising the Lord through dance and song once again. The participants were requested to surrender their phones, in order to ensure an enriching experience throughout the camp with minimum distractions. The first talk conveyed the message of ‘God’s Love and His Plan for us‘. Thereafter, the participants were divided into groups and went on to have a discussion on what they learnt from the talk. After a few games to lighten up the mood, the participants were enlightened as to ‘Who is Jesus Christ To Us?‘ To wrap up the day, there was a fun-filled entertainment night.
Early the next morning, the youth were led into worship followed by a short activity. After hearing about ‘Sin and Repentance‘, the importance of ‘Faith‘ was taught through an interesting activity, which the participants and the team thoroughly enjoyed. The inner healing was the turning point and brought out the emotional side of the youth present. After being spoken to about Confession, the participants began self-introspection. As and when ready, they proceeded for Confession. Simultaneously, the group discussion heads took each of their members individually for a time of one-to-one, where the participant were able to open up and share about any area that is the cause of disruption of peace in his/her life or impeding spiritual growth in any way.
After being taught Free Praise, the participants were lead to ‘Life in the Holy Spirit‘ followed by the most intense part of the camp- the ‘pray-over‘, during which the Chapel witnessed a tornado of emotions. As testified, it was a touching experience for everybody.
The final day began with whole-hearted praises. It was evident that the enthusiasm had escalated by a huge margin. Participants were encouraged to write heartfelt letters of appreciation to their parents, this was followed by the final talk – ‘Growing in the Spirit‘. Although exhausted, the participants were made to sit through the last session in personal prayer. At the end of the camp, the parents were invited to receive and give back letters to their children followed by Mass. All those who wished to share their experience of the camp, came up to testify after which there was the Praise Fest and a short fellowship gathering before dispersing.
The camp proved to be a soul-enriching experience for both the participants and the team behind it.
