The most awaited day had finally arrived! It was a historic moment as Couples for Christ India (CFCI) – Bangalore witnessed its first ever ‘Family Day’ on December 13th, 2015 at Snehadaan. CFCI – Bangalore which started its journey in 2007 saw a gathering of about 150 people, which included the couples, singles, youth and the kids from both the North and the South chapters of Bangalore.
The programme started at 10am with the Holy Eucharistic celebrated by Fr Mathew from Snehadaan; after which, our country servant, A V Jose, welcomed the gathering and inaugurated the Family Day. It was then followed by dance performances by the tiny tots of different chapters.
After a quick lunch, the CFCI members opened various stalls to impart knowledge on various topics such as Pro-life, Impact of Media, Sacramentals, Importance of Purity and Chastity, Knowing the Saints etc. There was also a stall dedicated solely for the purpose of educating the non community members about CFCI. The beautiful collage of various CFCI ministries was one of the highlights of this stall.
The most sought after stall was that of the kids. As Christmas was around the corner, there was a photo booth with Christmas props, where they clicked pictures galore. The kids also made cribs at the booth, while they were waiting for their photos to be printed.
The evening session promised to be full of entertainment and excitement and it definitely lived up to its billing. The couples and singles danced to various action songs, while the youth not only danced, but also enacted a play. The African community from the North chapter shook a leg too and earned great applause from the audience. The lively music helped everyone get off their seats and have a brilliant time dancing and singing for the Lord.
It was a beautiful sight to see the CFCI members encourage and cheer each other’s performances, regardless of which chapter they belonged to. There was a sense of unity and oneness not just in their hearts, but also in the way they dressed. Each ministry had dressed up according to their respective logo colors for eg. singles had come dressed in green while the kids were decked in red. It was truly a remarkable and fun-filled day, as people not only danced, laughed, interacted with each other, learnt new things, heard testimonies and bonded over food but also thanked God abundantly for helping them see this historic day.
