Identity defines your purpose in life.
As important as our identity is in regard to finances and possessions, there is an even more important identity based on who and what we are –rather than what we physically are.
Here’s an example – When a man is asked to describe himself, he will typically respond by saying what he does for his work. He will claim to be an engineer, or carpenter, or auto mechanic, etc. It is the first thing he talks about when he is around other men. On the other hand, a woman identifies herself by her relationships with her family and others. She will claim to be a mom, a daughter, a wife, a friend, etc. That is usually a part of what she talks about with other women.
OK let me put forth a question before you!
If you were given one chance, one opportunity or one wish! To be someone in this world, who would you want to be?
Why?
A few examples as to why people change their identity are:
My name: Now this is a very common example. There are many people in this world who don’t like the name that has been given to them. Either they feel embarrassed or feel their name will cause them to be the laughing stock among their friends. So, they either change it or never unveil the name they dislike.
A name is something so unique and special that is given to an individual. It is the first thing an individual can ever own from when he/her is an infant.
Our lord Jesus Christ has chosen and given us this special and unique name through our parents. Now, just imagine! out of the 7 billion people that live on this planet, we are recognized individually among the billions around us by just this unique name that has been given to us. How cool is that?
John 13:34-35 – “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Colour, Height, Hair, etc.: Our lord God has created us very uniquely. Some of us may be too fair or too dark, too tall or too short, some may have curly hair and some may have straight hair. There are some of us who are not very excited with the way we have been created. The dark try using “fair & lovely” and the fair try getting themselves a tanned look. The curly haired try straightening it and vice-versa. Yes it is TRUE. Not many are satisfied with the way God has created them. One of them main reasons due to this dissatisfaction is the discrimination from the people around them/us. The society discriminates or divides us according to all these or more factors. But is that right? We should ask ourselves! Are we part of these people?
John 13:34-35 – “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Finger prints: How unique are we? Out of the 7 billion people that are created on this planet. We all have “fingers” on both our hands. We are created in such a way that each finger holds a print that is so unique that nobody on this entire planet holds the same print as you. Now, imagine how unique or special you are.
God created us in his own image: As the bible quotes
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Nothing can be greater than the love of God. God loves us so much that he sent his only Son down to earth to die for us, for all our sins.
God loves each of us as if there were only one of us. ~ Augustine
You are loved by God, not because of what you’ve done, but because of who you are. The Bible tells us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He longed to have a relationship with you even before you became His child!
Now You Should Be Having Your Answer Ready. If You Were Given One Chance, One Opportunity Or One Wish! To Be Someone In This World, Who Would You Want To Be?
If you have chosen yourself, than take a second and say these words with a true and meaningful heart.
“I am worthy, because JESUS’ blood has made me worthy!”
